FileSavr is a file hosting service that gives users a simple way to upload, share and access their files. The user can begin by signing in or uploading a file directly from the homepage. Files of up to 2 GBs each can be uploaded to FileSavr. The application is about as simple as it gets. The user can upload and download files as they need to without any limitations placed on the steps in between. Each uploaded file is given a link that the user can share to allow others to download their file. The user only has to share the link to give someone else access to their file. FileSavr will keep the file on its server as long as it is being periodically downloaded. If too much time passes the file will be deleted.Show more screenshots »
FileSavr has marketed itself as a simple solution without all the annoying clutter of advertisements. So far, it has made a relatively good impression with its users. Although the application lacks in sophisticated features, it manages its intended purpose very well. Users can stop by, upload files, access the sharing link and pass them on to others quickly. There are no obstacles, such as enforced download or upload waiting times or other hindrances to slow the user down. FileSavr has been featured on Killer Startups and other websites.
FileSavr.com was merged with FileDropper.com in 2012.
The main difference between FileSavr and other file management applications is the noticeable lack of advertisements and other clutter. The user is given a streamlined experience that lets them breeze through the upload or download process. The file limitations are kept to a minimum so the user can handle most files without a problem. A simple link lets the user share their files with anyone on the web.
FileSavr’s design may not be very imaginative, but it works well for the application’s purposes. The simple yet sleek box and arrow logo add a little variety while the majority of the application favors a white background with plain black text. The user is given the tools they need and no distractions to get in the way. File management is very simple thanks to the plain, but practical, FileSavr design.
A new user can create a FileSavr account by clicking the green “Sign Up Free” link found near the center of the homepage. The next page asks the user to choose from one of three subscription options. After doing so, the user is asked to provide their country location, first and last name, credit card billing details, mailing address, email address, telephone number and a security check word (to prove that the user is human). The form is hosted through Paypal and gives the user the option of paying with a Paypal account or signing up for one.
FileSavr users are given the option of three membership plans. The first is the 99 Cents plan which costs 99 cents per month and includes up to 5 GBs of web based storage and a 5 GB file size limit. The Silver plan costs $5 per month and includes 25 GBs of storage space. The Gold plan costs $10 per month and upgrades to include 100 GBs of storage space. Each subscription option comes with a free 30 day trial.
FileSavr is ideal for anyone who wants an ultra-simple, no nonsense file management tool. The application is about as simple as it gets and offers no extra bells and whistle. The user can choose from three membership plans that start relatively low. The user gets a utilitarian file storage service that is, for the most part, convenient despite its lack of features and options. Users who want reporting features and other detailed functions should try a different application.
